Why ZÖe? What does the word mean?

It’s a Greek word meaning “Gift from God”. We are blessed to have these offices and the opportunity to serve the children of Georgia. We work every day to earn your trust and confidence. We are known as praying doctors as when I have to give parents bad news, I will ask your permission to pray together. I find that this simple act will go a long way to help both of us cope. As parents, we wear our emotions on our sleeve as well as we can only be as happy as our saddest child, we are less able receiving bad news without the help of the great healer.

What is your philosophy that drives how you practice medicine?

We became Pediatricians because we believe we can influence the young to adopt healthy lifestyles. But, we must convince their parents that a healthy lifestyle is achievable and desirable. Most of the diseases that cost society lots of money and families lots of pain are preventable. Western Medicine has not been good at addressing these issues. As a society, we tend to focus on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. ZOe Pediatrics would much rather prevent obesity rather than treat diabetes. So, focus our life’s work on ways that provide us the opportunities to do that. Our focus is on adopting healthy habits for the entire family. Progress can be made if we stay on task and continue to preach the gospel of prevention. Our children do not have to be handicapped by their circumstance, become obese, hyperactive or underachieve. Our children can learn to invest in their “tomorrows” by being good stewards “today.” Just like teaching reading, writing and arithmetic made America great. Eating right, exercising and having a healthy attitude will cure the epidemic of preventable diseases.

What insurance plans do you accept?

Do I have to make an appointment or can I just walk right in?

It is always better to make an appointment as we try to keep on schedule but we do not turn away anyone. If your children are sick and need to be seen, we will work them in even if we have to stay late.
We do not tolerate the unnecessary suffering of children. Even if it is after hours, on weekends or holidays, if we cannot address the problem over the phone, we will meet you at the office.

What are your office hours?

We are open on weekdays from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Our Thomaston office is also open from 9:00 – 1:00 on Saturdays. Our “ZOe After Hours” on Williams Rd. in Columbus is open from 6:00 – 9:00 pm on weeknights and 9:00 am – 9:00 pm on Week-ends. Columbus.

I don't want to catch something. If I am coming in for a "well child" visit, do I have to sit with the children who are sick?

Not to worry. We have two waiting rooms in all our offices--one for sick children and the other for children who are coming for their well child visits.

Do you have a list of super-specialists if your child needs to be referred?

Absolutely! We have many skilled specialists connected to local hospitals but if necessary, we will search the entire country for the best specialist to meet your children’s special needs.

What lab tests can you do at your office?

We do all the basic lab tests like glucose, strep, hemoglobin, allergies, mono screenings and urinalysis. We use Quest Laboratories and if necessary, your child will be referred to local hospitals for further testing.

How long have you been serving the children of Georgia?

First of all, we know you value excellent care for your children. So, we are grateful for how receptive you have been to our providers and hope that ZOe Pediatrics will continue to be a blessing to your children. We now have six Pediatricians and three Nurse Practitioners in five locations. Hopefully, we can play a small part in healthy and happy children in Georgia but please remember that we are raising children to be adults for a long life and prosperity. When ZOe children celebrate their 90th birthday, we hope they will blow out their candles and credit ZOe providers for the foundation of good health they received.

Do you offer COVID testing?

Yes! We offer testing to children that have been exposed to COVID both during office and after hours
